Metapetrocosmea Zhou’s Purple Ribbon

Metapetrocosmea ‘Zhou’s Purple Ribbon’, 2023, IR231862, hybridized by Wei-Chuen Chou, Fang Wen; Guangxi Institute of Botany & Gesneriads Conservation Center of China; Guilin, China. (M. cyrtocarpa x M. eberhardtii). Cross made 08.12.2018, seeds planted 12.21.2018, first flowering 07.26.2021. Sterile, reproducible only vegetatively. Erect habit, stem length 6-10cm. Leaves green, ca.4.5 cm long, ca. 3.5 cm wide, 2-3 cm petiole, with blurry yellowish veins, thin, slightly fleshy, pubescent both surfaces, ovate with acute tip, cordate base, serrate margin, hairy. Calyx split, brownish green, ca.10 mm. Length of the pedicel ca. 2 cm, 8 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, ca. 5 cm long, ca. 3.5 cm wide, dark reddish purple. Prefers brightly scattered natural light; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to PH ≥7.0); do not overfertilize and overwater.
