Primulina GCCC’s Yao Hua

Primulina ‘GCCC’s Yao Hua’, 2023, IR231970, hybridized by Mai Gui-Dan, Wei Yi-Gang, Wen Fang, Chou Wei-Chuen; Guilin University of Technology & Guangxi Institute of Botany, CAS & GCCC, Guilin City, Guangxi, China. (P. wuae x P. ‘Chang-Ngo’). Cross made 04.12.2020, seed planted 07.20.2020, first flowering 05.22.2022. Sterile. Basal rosette, acaulescent. Leaves dark green, thick, fleshy, pubescent on both surfaces, 5-7 cm long, 4-5 cm wide, petiole 0.5-1 cm, elliptic with an acute tip, cuneate base, entire margin, hairy. Calyx split, green, ~4 mm. Length of the pedicel 10-20 mm, 6 or more flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, 3.5-4 cm long, 2.5-3 cm wide, purple with purple stripes on both upper and lower lips, and orange at the throat of the upper lip. This hybrid prefers bright scattered light, moist, well-drained, calcium-rich soil with limited fertilization.
