Primulina Tan Muscular Man

Primulina ‘Tan Muscular Man’, 2015, IR151278, Yu-Zhen Ge, Fang Wen, Zhi-Guo Zhao, Guangxi, China (P. lutea  P. wentsaii). Cross made Jun. 22, 2012, planted Oct 23, 2012, and first flowered Sep 9, 2014.  Sterile. Reproducible only vegetatively. Rosette.  Leaves dark green, 6-10 cm long x 2.5-3.5 cm wide with inconspicuous ca.1 cm petiole, bullate, linear with entire margin, cuneate base and acute tip. Calyx split, purplish-red, 2 – 3.5 cm long. Pedicel 2.5 – 4 cm with 2-3 flowers. Corolla salverform, 5-6.5 cm wide, 2.5 – 3 cm long, dark yellow with ca. 9 purple stripes.  Differs others and its parents in the leaves by having fleshy leaf blades and strigose with small papillary base on the surface of leaf blades, bigger corolla with special color: purple and yellow on corolla surface mixed and shaded each other; between two lobes of adaxial lip having a pale-orange spot with pubescence. Prefers brightly scattered light, well drained calcium rich substrate, do not overfertilize, otherwise grows spindly and doesn’t bloom. Temperature range 0-37F.
