xMichaelmoellerimulina ‘GCCC’s Jinglan Haizi’, 2023, IR231976, hybridized by Fang Wen, Wei-Chuen Chou, Yi-Gang Wei; Guangxi Institute of Botany; CAS; GCCC, Guilin City, China. (Michaelmoelleria vietnamensis x Primulina purpureokylin). Cross made 09.17.2019, seeds planted 12.23.2019, first flowering 11.11.2022. Sterile. Erect habit, stem length 5-10 cm. Leaves a varying shade of greenish-brown, with light and dark patches ranging in color from pale yellow to light yellowish-brown of different sizes and intensities, 5-8 cm long, 3.5-6.5 cm wide, 2-5 cm petiole, ovate with rounded tip, cuneate base, entire to crenate margin, hairy. Calyx split, brownish-green, length ca. 8 mm. Length of the pedicel 3-5.5 cm, ca. 10 flowers per axil. Corolla salverform, ca. 4.5 cm long, ca. 2.5 cm wide, pale purple with the throat and mouth of the corolla is a lighter snow blue color. The flowers display significant staminode petaloidy while both parents have exclusively single petaled flowers. This hybrid prefers brightly scattered lighting; moist but well-drained & calcium-rich substrate (equal to pH ≥7.0); don’t over-fertilize and overwater.
